A Progressive Voice for Oregon and the Nation!
From February 2007 to November 2012, Carl Wolfson was the host of “Carl in the Morning” on AM 620 KPOJ, Portland’s progressive talk.
On KPOJ, Carl covered national politics and conducted in-depth interviews with A-list guests (Alan Greenspan, Paul Krugman, Nate Silver, Maya Angelou), progressive legends (Howard Zinn, Gloria Steinem, Ralph Nader, Noam Chomsky) and conservative counter-punchers (Grover Norquist, Frank Luntz, Pat Buchanan).
The show connected Oregon listeners with their elected reps and provided a daily platform for hundreds of local organizations from the Oregon AFL-CIO to Multnomah County Young Dems to the Forest Park Conservancy.
When Clear Channel flipped KPOJ’s format to sports after the 2012 election, fans, sponsors and advocates for local radio banded together to return Carl to the air. With the humor and insight of co-host, JD, the online program expanded its range and popularity – attracting a huge listening audience throughout the United States.
Carl and JD are now back on terrestrial radio on Portland’s KXRY, 91.1 FM also available online at XRAY.fm.
Prior to his radio career, Carl was one of the country’s top headlining comedians, specializing in current-events humor.
He was a fixture on national television, appearing on Showtime’s Comedy Club Network, VH-1 Stand-Up Spotlight, An Evening at the Improv, Comic Strip Live andThe Joan Rivers Show. His weekly news segments on Thicke of the Night (“The Wolfson Report”) and Fox Network’s Late Show (“Carl’s Camera”) were the most popular features of each show.
Carl began his career at Hollywood’s Comedy Store in 1980. He received his B.S. in Communications from the University of Tennessee and his M.A. in Political Science from UCLA.
